New York’s christian medice delivers reflective indie pop single “Good Time”

Date:

Grammy-nominated songwriter, producer, and artist christian medice has released his new single “Good Time.” True to his work for various other artists in the past, medice delivers the same infectious sonic landscapes he provided for artists like The Aces, Moon Taxi, and Dixie D’Amelio over the better part of the last decade.

In his latest endeavor, he steps fully into the spotlight, giving his fans a slice of indie-pop that feels like a warm, hazy hug in the sunlight

From the first beat, “Good Time” wrapped me up in a gorgeously soft lo-fi blanket that I knew I would keep around me for the next couple of hours. The refreshing idea behind medice’s music is that he doesn’t try to reinvent the indie-pop wheel here; instead, he focuses on the execution and emotional resonance of his single.

The production is soft around the edges, full of a shimmering retro glow that transports you into a car, driving down the highway with the windows down and the warm summer breeze in your hair. The lyrics, however, are a little sharper, almost bittersweet as they hit that sweet spot that medice leans into fully.

It is an anthem for the overthinkers, much like myself, to learn and take the dive into the present moment. To make that choice to have a “good time” despite the inevitable comedown. But instead of making it feel like an escape from reality and life’s responsibilities, it feels like a gentle reminder that it is okay to take a breather and a necessary act of self-preservation.

“Good Time” is available to stream now.
