Orlando-based ambient rock and alternative outfit Makari have unveiled their newest single, “Stare at the Sun,” released on Friday, July 10, via Thriller Records. Accompanied by a lyric video, the track captures the thrill of chasing a love that burns so brightly it could destroy you.
The band shares the deeper meaning behind “Stare at the Sun,” stating:
“‘Stare at the Sun’ is about being attracted to someone’s energy, the bright light of their being; wanting to be consumed by it. It’s like they’re the sun, and you’re so in love you’re willing to dive into it, even though you know you could burn up in their atmosphere. This song is also about tuning out the noise of those who’d say this type of love is too risky because, if there’s anything in life worth risking it all for, it’s love.”
Makari has always focused on turning feeling into sound when words are not enough. The band draws inspiration from ambient rock, emo, and modern alternative stylings, shaping a sound that feels expansive and grounded. Featuring vocalist Andy Cizek, guitarists Eric Stewart and Matt Beljan, bassist Jay Tomasso, and drummer Kevin Beljan, Makari creates something honest and intentional, built to connect with listeners from all walks of life.
Makari’s genuine connection with their fans has landed them on stages alongside Hail The Sun, The Home Team, and Rain City Drive. The band will also be performing at Warped Tour Orlando later this year.
Now with Thriller Records, Makari continues to push forward without chasing trends or limiting themselves to a single identity. At the center of everything is the same intention that has always driven the band forward: to create music that speaks the things words sometimes cannot.
