Self-proclaimed “band of girlies” Kid Sistr have returned with their latest single, “Maniac,” for fans of boygenius, Hayley Williams, and Soccer Mommy, or anyone currently seeking a cathartic, man-denouncing anthem.
The music video, which premiered via FLOOD Magazine, signals a definitive shift toward heavier, grunge-inflected tones for the trio. Channeling the sting of a broken heart, Kid Sistr delivers snarling, emotionally charged lyrics: “You egotistic maniac / You call me pretty, it’s a trap / See me crying and you laugh / You just like to make me sad.”
Both the single and its visual counterpart lean into authenticity, contrasting the beauty of girlhood against the sharp, jagged edges of a relationship gone sour. It is the rare kind of track that makes you want to scream at an ex and sprint through a field of wildflowers with your best friends.
“Maniac” serves as the second single for their upcoming five-song EP, American Teenage Prophecy, arriving May 13 on Giant Music. The band is currently embarking on tour across the Midwest and Southeast alongside Kids That Fly and Post Sex Nachos. Tickets to see them on tour are available here.
Simply put: Kid Sistr is going places, fast.
