My Chemical Romance unveils previously unreleased version of “Helena”

Date:

Ahead of their sold-out stadium tour, Long Live: The Black Parade, adorned in smudged black eyeliner, matching red ties, and the discontinued Urban Decay eyeshadow shade Gash, My Chemical Romance are taking us back to 2004 to revisit one of their most iconic eras – Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge.

On May 16, 2025, the band unveiled a previously unreleased live version of their 4x platinum, iconic song “Helena.” The song was previously recorded in 2005 for BBC Radio 1’s segment, “The Lock Up.” Additionally, the official “Helena” music video has been restored and is now available to be watched in all its 4K glory.

Earlier this year, the band announced that they would also be releasing a deluxe version of Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge, set to be released exactly 21 years after the original release date on June 6th, 2025. The deluxe edition will be remixed and remastered and will be available on CD, multiple colored vinyl variants, and on streaming platforms. As a special bonus, the 2LP vinyl formats are 3-sided, with Side 4 containing a special etching; these details make them collectors’ items and the perfect addition to round out any MCRmy’s anthology.

To honor the 3x-platinum album, GRAMMY® Award-winning producer Rich Costey has done new mixes for the deluxe edition. This edition of Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge has also been adorned with new artwork. In addition to the songs fans know and love from the original release, the deluxe features 4 bonus tracks also recorded for BBC in 2005, including previously unreleased live versions of “I’m Not Okay (I Promise),” “Helena,” and “The Ghost Of You.” And if that wasn’t enticing enough, Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge (Deluxe Edition) includes a live take on “You Know What They Do to Guys Like Us in Prison” – originally released as a B-side on the limited edition UK CD single of “I’m Not Okay (I Promise).”

The influence and impact of My Chemical Romance is not just genre-defining; it’s also everlasting – an effect that can be seen as their popularity continues to span generations. Nothing is a larger testament to this than their upcoming North American stadium tour, Long Live: The Black Parade, which sold out just hours after tickets went on sale.
