Indie-pop musician Modern Oli has released his second single, “Transatlantic.” The release follows his debut “One Of Those Faces,” which dropped earlier this year.
“Transatlantic” leans heavily into 80s synthpop, boasting big, piano-led energy while incorporating modern pop sensibilities. For the keen and careful listeners, you can hear real sound samples from the casinos in Las Vegas, a nod to one of the cities that inspired the song, making the track more personal and unique.
Oli explains his writing process, stating:
“I sat down at the piano and took myself back to one of the greatest summers of my life when I fell in love with the most intoxicating, invigorating human being I had ever set eyes on. It’s about the electrifying power of pure attraction.”
He goes on further, mentioning how proud he is of “Transatlantic”:
“I’m so proud of Transatlantic as a song because I feel it completely captures that tingly magic of feeling like nothing in the world matters except that person right in front of you and that with them you can conquer the world together.”
Modern Oli, whose real name is Oli Higginson, is not only a musician but also a prominent actor in the Netflix hit series Bridgerton. Even though Oli has only released 2 singles, his musical work has already garnered massive attention, leading to a sold-out headlining show at The Grace and substantial praise across social media.
