Watching Disney Channel series premieres was once a sacred ritual for tweens, who tuned in by the millions to see the on-screen debut of pop star Hannah Montana in 2006. Played by a then-13-year-old Miley Cyrus, Miley Stewart navigated a double life as both an ordinary high schooler and a budding Hollywood icon.
With the 20th anniversary of Hannah Montana approaching in January, Cyrus has assured fans that she plans to host a celebration to commemorate the show.
“I am definitely in the works [on something],” Cyrus told Good Morning America at the global premiere of Avatar: Fire and Ash on Dec. 1. “A lot of my time right now is being spent on ‘How can I honor Hannah in such a special celebration for us all?’”
While nothing has been formally announced, Cyrus quickly shut down the theory of a reboot series with a new actress, telling Billboard News, “This is the only Hannah.” Fans online have begun to speculate a Hannah Montana reunion special or tour.
The Disney Channel show aired until January of 2011, spawning soundtrack albums, concert and feature films, and a tour. Since Cyrus’ departure from the program, she has racked up three GRAMMY Awards and multiple smash singles, including 2023’s “Flowers.” She was recognized as a Disney Legend in 2024, becoming the youngest individual to receive the honor.
