Melodic Music Monday: June 2

Date:

Every Monday, we bring you a playlist filled with new tracks the Melodic staff has been listening to on repeat. Hear some of our latest obsessions below:

——

Natalie Jane, “fallin”Natalie Jane’s latest single “fallin” arrives just in time to claim its spot as this summer’s ultimate glittery heartbreak anthem. Blending early 2000s club energy with a modern twist, the track turns a love triangle into a high-gloss, feel-good dance-floor confession. From the moment Natalie opens with the biting line, “She looks so cute in your favorite sweater / but I promise you I would wear it better,” her gospel-tinged vocals elevate the emotional stakes before diving into a euphoric beat reminiscent of Cascada’s early 2000s club era.

Colbie Caillat and Mitchell Tenpenny, “Realize” – The duet version of “Realize” comes following the release of another country pop duet with Russell Dickerson last month. Caillat leaning into country is boding well for her success in the current musical era that celebrates country western sounds. “Realize” previously garnered immense success with its 2007 release on Caillat’s triple-platinum album COCO. The new version’s production captures Caillat’s voice in a more tender sense.

Haiden Henderson, “lips” – Fans of the “Haider Nation” can surely give you a list of qualities that Haiden Henderson is known for. His vibrant music would be one, as hits like “sweat,” “lovesucker,” and “hell of a good time” have pulled in millions of streams with their catchy melodies and alluring lyrics. Haiden’s live shows would be another, as his sets are filled with an infectious energy and an undeniable connection that keeps audiences coming back for more. If there’s one last thing Haiden is known for, it would be his “lips,” and he tells us all about them in his latest single.

——

Ax and the Hatchetmen, “Hotel Room” – On “Hotel Room,” Ax and the Hatchetmen tap into a moment of desolation and expand it to all that it can be. It has a celebratory feel brought on by the soaring melodies and lively vocals, as well as a bittersweet feel brought on by the lyrics. The verses and choruses are the same throughout, as if the isolation of the hotel room has limited other emotions and words from surfacing. Still, there is a freshness to the track that makes it a compelling listen and a sunny slice of indie rock.
