For Mark Ambor, falling for someone unexpectedly is now becoming passionate and consuming. On his new single, “Closer To Me,” the 27-year-old singer-songwriter is facing the intoxicating feeling of someone getting under your skin. It’s the rush, the intensity — it’s a feeling unlike any other.

After Ambor escaped to his hometown of Rockwood and signed with Capitol Records, he is now turning boredom into an intense and romantic pull on his most recent single. He sings, “When it’s just me and you and nothing to do / We’re just killing time.” It’s simple, easy and Ambor is yet to see the effect this person has on him.

“I wrote ‘Closer To Me’ in a hotel room in London during the Rockwood tour,” Ambor says. “At the time, I initially wrote it about someone I was seeing, but when that ended, the song took on a new meaning for me. It became a song that reminded me of the past two years and the appreciation and love I have for every single person who’s shown support for anything I’ve ever put out. It’s been nothing short of a dream to get to meet, learn, celebrate and ultimately become closer to each and every one of them.”

“Strangers and nameless to, damn, you got dangerous You’re messing me up, but I love it,” is actually the heart of the song, as love surprisingly hits Ambor. He’s ultimately captivated by the irresistible, intimate pull, driving him closer toward this person in this fun, upbeat indie-pop track (“I love it when you’re closer to me”).

With dreamy, atmospheric production, Ambor’s “Closer To Me” captures the most dangerous and beautiful form of love, combining its softness with passionate intensity.
