Lyncs takes us on the road with “miss u”

Date:

Jacqueline Hynes, AKA Lyncs, hasn’t let adversity stop her from pursuing her dreams. The Lancaster, PA native made a move to Los Angeles to further her music career, but shortly after was involved in a snowboarding accident that led to the amputation of her left thumb. While an incident such as this may have stopped some artists in their tracks, Lyncs took her 6-month-post-surgery recovery as an opportunity to write, perform, and produce her upcoming EP, I Already Know The Ending. From that offering comes her latest single, “miss u,” a song that showcases her ability to write spellbinding dream pop reminiscent of such artists as The 1975 and Halsey.

From the opening lines it’s easy to envision Lyncs and a companion on the road, windows down, riding the highway with the sunset in their wake. “85 on the I-81 / What fun it is to joke that we’re gonna die young / 16 living like we’re kings / Until 17 when we know what it means / I’m gonna miss you.” Most who have experienced being a teenager know the deep bonds that form with peers during that time; the way that it feels like no one else in the world can understand you except that one other person. This song perfectly encapsulates those feelings, using whimsical synths and a muted beat to drive them home (no pun intended).
