Lo Moon releases the anthemic “Stop”

Date:

We’ve been pretty straightforward about Lo Moon’s forthcoming sophomore album A Modern Life — it feels like an impressive step up for an already-impressive band. We’ve already heard “Dream Never Dies” and last month’s stunning “Raincoats”, and today the LA band has released “Stop” as the third and final single from the album.

“Stop” is a ballad that the press release describes as ‘being able to fit in amongst Coldplay’s most beloved early tracks’, and that statement is startlingly accurate. Over soft acoustic guitars and their recognizable ambient soundscapes behind them, Matt Lowell’s soaring vocals are once again the star of the show as the song becomes an anthemic sing-along. It brings to mind Coldplay just as much as it does their contemporaries in The War on Drugs, and A Modern Life is shaping up to be one of the best headphone listens of the year with Yves Rothman’s stunning hi-fi production amplifying the essential parts of this band’s sound.
