After a seven-year hiatus, rock band Linkin Park returns to the spotlight with a documentary film, UNSHATTER, set to release on September 30.
The film comes after the loss of bandmate Chester Bennington in 2017. In an Instagram post about the film’s release, the band stated how the film “follows our journey through loss, resilience and creative reinvention.”
Directed by the band’s creative director and band member Joe Hahn, the film explores intimate 2022 studio sessions from their From Zero album release and concert in São Paulo. UNSHATTER mixes rare vault footage, performances from sold-out shows, and interviews with the band, including new members Emily Armstrong and Colin Brittain, who joined in 2024, and interviews with fans.
“UNSHATTER follows a very particular moment in Linkin Park’s history and documents a path through loss, uncertainty, friendship, and reinvention,” Hahn said in their press release for the film.
“Our friendship, our shared history, and the new creative energy that Emily Armstrong and Colin Brittain brought into the band helped us discover that beginning again didn’t mean leaving the past behind. It meant carrying it with us.”
The film was first teased back in June, alongside merch with the film’s posters and website name. Soon after, the UNSHATTER release date was announced. Fans can find more information, like dates and the trailer, here.
There will also be an accompanying Unshatter Film Soundtrack (Live in São Paulo), which includes exclusive recordings not in the film, released on September 25.
