Knox releases heartbreaking single, “After the After Party”

Date:

Knox releases new single “After the After Party” as part of his upcoming sophomore album, My Midwest Best.

If you’ve ever needed distraction after distraction to numb a broken heart before, this is the song to listen to in the middle of the night. Or, you can bob your head to it with your friends in the car. That’s what makes it my favourite kind of song: it’s angsty while having a very fun beat.

The song slowly reveals what it’s actually about. In the first verse, Knox talks about the bars he goes to with his friends, never satisfied with the amount of partying he engages in. With the soft electric guitar riff that starts off the song and his melancholic vocals during the verse, it isn’t too surprising when he reveals in the chorus the reason for the excessive partying: “because after the after party / I’ll walk myself home / one more drink and stare at the phone / hoping you’ll call, knowing you won’t.” The chorus sonically grows in intensity because of the layered vocals, and it makes you want to scream the lyrics out right along with him.

This song gets you nostalgic for the 2000s pop-punk days of Fall Out Boy, but Knox undoubtedly adds his own unique style with his intricate, rhythmic melodies that have an intense earworm effect.

Look out for Knox’s album My Midwest Best coming out October 2, 2026.
