JUL!ET leaves big tech behind to champion creatives with “BATTERY” release

Date:

Emerging artist JUL!ET, based in Seattle, has released a new single, “BATTERY,” today as part of a developing EP.

The track is described as an anthem for optimists who often find themselves emotionally drained — the kind of people who smile through the pain of everyday life, even as they feel their internal battery start to run out.

A former big tech employee, JUL!ET has redirected her career toward music. She’s also using her platform to support other emerging creatives making similar transitions. That includes Katrina Vergara, the editor and director of the official music video accompanying the release. Vergara, a former Microsoft employee, is now building a professional career in production and videography.

JUL!ET hopes to set a standard for creatives pivoting from corporate backgrounds, aiming to use her platform not just to build her name but also to uplift collaborators exploring new ventures.

“BATTERY” blends indie rock, hyperpop and dance music, resulting in a sound that feels both nostalgic and futuristic. JUL!ET cites artists like Porter Robinson, Charli XCX and PinkPantheress as key inspirations. The track showcases a contrast of soft vocals, sarcastic lyrics, and digital aesthetics that convey raw, real emotion. A sped-up version of the song also accompanies the release.

JUL!ET is currently collaborating on reimagined tracks from her deluxe release of ALTER EGOMAN!A in hopes of expanding her reach and that of her creative collective, Upper Left, within the pop music scene.
