Hazlett makes a heartfelt addition to his catalogue with the release of “doing my best”

Date:

Sweden-based, Australian-born singer-songwriter Hazlett releases his first single of 2025, “doing my best,” just before embarking on a headlining tour of the US. The new single expands on Hazlett’s current discography, bringing the same intimate songwriting, lush vocals, and folk-inspired sound. Hazlett adds about “doing my best,”

“With this song, I wanted to bring that same heart-on-my-sleeve sentiment, but with a little more gusto. That same old folkness, but with details that can open up this little world we’ve built even more.”

Hazlett creates music that fans of Lord Huron, Noah Kahan, and Hozier will love. The new track is no different. He combines easy listening and soft melodies all while creating his own specifically personal world. This accessibility and intimacy is a unique combination that has brought Hazlett a devoted following.

“doing my best” stands out from Hazlett’s other songs by providing a repetitive throughline that is both catchy and energizing, centering around the lyric “So I’m gonna live in my head.” In the last chorus, the vocals and instrumentation swell around this line, giving a strong emotional catharsis to a relatively soft track.

Hazlett promises more music to come, but in the meantime, stream “doing my best” and watch the accompanying music video below.
