Connecticut heavyweights Hatebreed are set to return with their ninth studio album, Fatal Paradox, arriving November 6 via their new label home, BLKIIBLK.
Their legacy is one of relentless touring, consistent yet fresh riffs, and setting the benchmark for metallic hardcore, and to mark this special return, Hatebreed have unleashed the album’s aggressive opener, “Kill Count Increase,” along with a new music video, opening with the quote “You only become a target, when you become a threat.” Six years after 2020’s Weight of the False Self, few bands have carried the torch of heavy music quite like them.
Collaborating with longtime producer Zeuss (Rob Zombie, Shadows Fall), the band creates a track that feels cohesive and fresh in its crossover aggression. At just under three minutes, the track is fast and thrashy, filled to the brim with d-beats and Jamey Jasta’s signature roar.
“‘Kill Count Increase’ is the lead track on Fatal Paradox and a perfect way of summing up our first album in six years from the start,” Jasta says of the release. “It’s straightforward, in-your-face Hatebreed. Fast. Hard. It gets down to business and comes up for air two-and-a-half minutes later. The room and everyone in it gets wrecked and comes back wanting more.”
Across its 11 tracks, Fatal Paradox promises to be full of thrash, hardcore aggression, and speedy riffs. The album also features a special guest appearance from Obituary frontman John Tardy on track “Sacrifice Season.”
This announcement comes as Hatebreed prepares to hit the ground the rest of the summer and into fall. In addition to their headlining dates, the tour includes festival appearances at Gathering of the Juggalos, Furnace Fest, and Envol et Macadam, as well as high-profile support slots alongside Slayer and Turnstile.
Hatebreed has sold over 1.5 million albums in North America alone and their 2016 single “Looking Down The Barrel Of Today” is fast approaching 130 million streams. This endurance and consistency is what ensures Hatebreed will remain an undeniable fixture at the top of the heavy music scene.
