Glitch Princess yeule announces new album with hard-hitting single “Skullcrusher”

Date:

The enigmatic Nat Ćmiel is a non-binary painter, musician, performance artist and cyborg entity releasing music into the world through their project yeule. Known for translating digital personas, online seclusion, and pioneering their own glitch/distortion style, yeule is an entity through which Ćmiel can deconstruct or bridge the gaps between music, perceived reality, identity, and the blurred lines of the internet era. “Skullcrusher” is the latest iteration of this ethos, bringing heavy, radical, distortion-centered electronic music along with a new yeule aesthetic avatar.

The new single is brief—clocking in at just over two minutes. yeule uses these two minutes to create a crushing and powerful track exploring themes of apocalyptic love with horror-tinged aesthetics. “Skullcrusher” opens slowly and methodically with ethereal electronic vocals, bass, drum effects, and layered levels of distortion and breathing. The tension culminates at the 47-second mark, where the track explodes and the intensity is pushed to a breaking point and the vocals scream, “All I want to do is love you / But all you want to be / Is in a dream.”

yeule’s highly anticipated LP4, Evangelic Girl Is A Gun, seems to be building into a masterful culmination of all of the work they have previously released. “Skullcrusher” is a heavy maximalist teaser into this world, pushing the boundaries of genre. The commentary is no less than apt in a digital age where A.I. is integrated into almost every aspect of our lives.

Evangelic Girl Is A Gun is out May 30th, 2025, via Rough Trade in the US and Ninja Tune for EU/UK. The album features production from yeule, mura masa, A.G. Cook, clams casino, FITNESSS, kin leonn, and Chris Greatti. Stream “Skullcrusher” and watch the accompanying music video below. Be on the lookout for new tour dates and album news.
