“Sour Milk” is the marquee single from the Dublin-based musician Skinner‘s debut album, New Wave Vaudeville. Heavily influenced by the no-wave movement of New York, Skinner brings infectious energy in tandem with an eclectic blend of genres on his latest project. Skinner is currently featured on Spotify’s “All New Rock” and “All New Punk” playlists for “Sour Milk” as well as being the cover for “A Breath of Fresh Éire,” Spotify’s premiere Irish discovery playlist.
Through “Sour Milk,” Skinner expresses the disillusioned reality of working a job that disrupts sleep, social life, and overall sanity. Skinner hints at the volatility of life and just how quickly things can change with explosive sonic diversity and a catchy repetitious chorus: “And I can’t / Keep on living this same day / But now its stuck in my teeth and / I can get it out out out out out of the way.”
Skinner elaborates on the inspiration for the song:
“The song is about feeling untethered from reality and sleep deprived… I never knew what day it was and I never got to see anyone cause I’d be going to sleep when they were all waking up so there’s a lot of isolation and frustration in the lyrics.”
