Whether you’re being ghosted or just given the cold shoulder, Freya Skye is now stepping into a new musical era with her latest viral single, “silent treatment.” The song — which the 16-year-old Disney Channel star has performed live on several occasions — finds Skye confronting young heartbreak, blending powerful vocals with vulnerability.
The song opens with Skye describing how a boy she was falling for acted unfazed and in control, only for everything to fall apart when he left without warning. She ultimately details a one-sided attempt to understand a breakup that was never formally addressed, letting out her frustration and hurt. “I got my hopes too high / And you hardly said goodbye / Then casually walked out of my life,” Skye sings.
The chorus delivers the emotional gut punch, and Skye faces silence head-on after he completely cuts her off without a conversation or a reason. She’s stuck in her own head, replaying everything, wondering what went wrong.
She hates that he left, hates how much it affects her, and hates that she didn’t even get a reason.
“Oh we don’t talk anymore, talk anymore, talk anymore / Gave me the silent treatment / The least you could’ve done was give me a reason,” she sings.
With “silent treatment,” Skye sets herself as an emerging pop voice capable of combining polished and powerful vocals with honest emotion. Known to Disney fans as Nova Bright in Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires, the new track marks her first true viral moment after releasing occasional singles over the past year — further proving she’s wise beyond her years.
Skye is set to embark on Freya Skye the Acoustic Shows, which will take place this upcoming December and January in New York, Los Angeles and London.
