Fleshwater’s “Last Escape” turns stillness into sound

Yesterday afternoon, Fleshwater released their second single off their upcoming sophomore album 2000: In Search of the Endless Sky. Since they announced the news on Instagram yesterday alongside their label Closed Casket Activities, devoted fans have expressed their excitement about their upcoming era.

“Last Escape” is a four-minute track that strongly introduces the listener to distorted guitars and melodic vocals from lead singer Marisa “Mirsy” Shirar. As the first verse blossoms in emotional outpour, the song reveals the high and low tides of a relationship being at a standstill.

While implementing those conflicting feelings with an energetic pop-punk, influential sound, Fleshwater takes modern shoegaze to another realm where nostalgia and angst reside.

Complementing the single’s release is a music video which premiered on Fleshwater’s homepage and on Youtube. Already skyrocketing with over thousands of views, the “Last Escape” music video shines brightly, showcasing the Northfield Square Mall in cool undertones with contrasting warm glimpses of a metallic, red-lit tunnel located in the village of Bradley, Illinois. Moreover, the “Last Escape” video brings Fleshwater fans on a rollercoaster ride towards their most anticipated record yet.
