For fans of bands like The Neighbourhood and The 1975, emerging LA-based artist Bad Brain encapsulates the sound of both bands into the perfect bedroom lo-fi mix you need in your playlist. Bad Brain has just released his third studio single “Falling,” featuring Lil Late.
Following his debut single, “Like You” and next single “Endless,” “Falling” is a sentimental and emotional piece that captures the push and pull of an unrealistic relationship. It’s about that feeling of coming to the realization that you may have made up an entire relationship inside your own head.
Through punchy guitars and floating, airy vocals, the uncomfortable questions begin to take form: “did I read too far into this moment? / Did I read the signal wrong? / What if this is all just my wishful thinking? / Is this real or is this fake, and why can’t I tell the difference?”
Bad Brain revealed in a press release that this was not only the first song he made as an artist, but that the raw and vulnerable emotions it confronts stem from “a heartbreak that was 10 years in the making.” Lil Late’s verse adds even more oomph to the mystique of the single’s world.
