Multi-talented alt-pop artist Evan Fong has returned with the release of his latest single, “breathe”. The track embraces a raw grunginess, with a jagged guitar and gritty vocals that give the song an underlying pop-punk feel while embracing a rough exterior.
The music video for the track has also been released. Capturing the grunge aesthetic, the video features an eclectic mix of shots and camera styles, including super 8-style film, fish-eye lens, and hazy scenes.
In 2025, Evan released multiple singles, including “This One’s For Me,” “Spawn!”, and “miss melancholy.” Each track explored a new glimpse into his creative mindset. Together, they created a mix of emotionally honest and candid pieces of music, showcasing Evan’s refusal to be defined.
“breathe” follows that story. On the surface, it has a catchy tune and classic alt-pop melody. But underneath, it carries a restless undercurrent, creating a sense of someone fighting to tread murky waters. Evan is honest about his creative process, candidly sharing: “I made this album while macrodosing meth. I almost died.”
