Today, rising alt-rock star DE’WAYNE shares “Sundays,” the final single to arrive ahead of his upcoming third studio album June, out July 30 through Fearless Records. A soaring and heartfelt anthem, “Sundays” tells the story of the singer’s rocky, yet very close, relationship with his father.
“When I wrote this song, I wanted to explain the complicated bond between a father and son,” he explains.
“One where love and pain, admiration, and resentment all live side by side. It’s about seeing your father as both a hero and a human, flawed and real. In the end, it’s my way of saying; ‘Thank you, Dad — for the good and the bad. You helped make me who I am.'”
The new single arrives ahead of his highly anticipated album June, a body of work that the singer-songwriter calls his most authentic project to date. As DE’WAYNE combines a multitude of genres — including rock, punk, pop, funk and soul — he conveys heavy tones of love, lust and soul with nonstop energy. Three previous album singles have been released: “June,” “Biological” and “Highway Robbery,” all of which explore different corners of his vast and exciting artistry. Through his raw and refreshing approach to music, DE’WAYNE is proving himself to be music’s next major rockstar.
“Every song on this record was a surrender, and ‘June’ is the light guiding it all,” he says.
“I wanted to reframe vulnerability as a superpower, not a weakness, and use this record to show my evolution — not just as an artist, but as a human being.”
Ahead of the release of June, DE’WAYNE is performing across North America supporting Red Leather on a number of select tour dates. Throughout his illustrious career, the “Love Raider” singer has also taken the stage at Governor’s Ball, Lollapalooza, Bottlerock, and more.
