Debut Studio Ghibli-inspired track by New York artist hayes is out now

Date:

A young talented artist out of Long Island, NY, hayes has released his debut single, “Swallow A Star.”

hayes is a singer-songwriter currently studying music at Clive Davis Institute. His love and passion for music began early, as he was introduced to classical music growing up. This translated into vocal, piano, and even cello lessons. After attending a songwriting summer camp in middle school, hayes’ pursuit of producing and writing his own songs fell into place alongside his talent for the guitar.

Drawing massive inspiration from artists such as Adrianne Lenker, Ryan Beatty, and Sufjan Stevens, his aim when it comes to songwriting is to have a naturally balanced aspect: to blend crafty lyrical attention with melodic intricacy to alchemize a song worthy of introspection, depth, emotion, and honesty.

“Swallow A Star,” released on Oct. 31st, arose after hayes rewatched the spectacular 2004 film Howl’s Moving Castle, made by the popular Japanese film/animation company Studio Ghibli, and directed by extraordinary filmmaker and founder Hayao Miyazaki. The movie follows a young woman named Sophie who is turned into an elderly woman by a witch who enters her shop and curses her. She later encounters a wizard named Howl who struggles with his refusal to fight for the king.

It’s a dreamy and whimsical song, capturing the blissful splendor of the film’s nature with equally dreamy vocals, soft harmonies, and tranquil guitar plucking. Much is to be anticipated from this talented singer.
