Daniel Seavey realizes they were meant for “Other People” on new single

Date:

Daniel Seavey is making a powerful return with his new single, “Other People,” a heartfelt track that delves into the end of a tumultuous relationship against soft guitar strumming that builds in the chorus.

The Why Don’t We alum reflects on the time and effort invested in the relationship, but admits that sometimes, despite all efforts, love can fade and run its course. Following his hit single “The Older You Get,” which explores the complexities of growing up, “Other People” builds on this theme focusing on the painful yet necessary act of moving on (“No one can say / We didn’t try / I gave you every fiber of love in my blood ’til tonight / You did the same”), before concluding with the realization that “You know it’s over when it’s over,” emphasizing the inevitability of the breakup.

As the chorus approaches, Seavey captures the emotional struggle of accepting that the relationship is beyond their control and unraveling. The drumbeat intensifies into a near-explosion, as each breath feels like a part of their past is crumbling. Despite this, Seavey questions whether what they had was authentically real, ultimately coming to terms with the fact that they were not meant to be, and admits that, “Guess we were meant to be with other people.”

The song showcases Seavey’s emotional lyricism and distinctive pop-rock vibes, creating a melancholic track that resonates deeply, especially during moments of reflection and sadness — a time otherwise known as sad hour.

Seavey will support Benson Boone’s Miniature US Fireworks and Rollerblades Tour this fall.
