Au/Ra plugs back in with ethereal new single “E-MOTION”

Date:

Over the last few years, Antigua-raised alt-pop singer and visionary Au/Ra has crafted a dreamlike, green-haired universe where the anxieties of Gen Z and cinema meet in an electronic production.

Since becoming recognized worldwide for her song “Panic Room” and working with Alan Walker on songs like “Darkside,” she has never been afraid to explore the dark corners of the human mind. Now, Au/Ra has teased us once again with what seems to be her next hit in the form of her highly anticipated debut concept album, heartcore, and her newly released single, “E-MOTION.”

Musically, this new hit is a stunning masterclass in Au/Ra’s music if you weren’t already one of the many obsessed with both her and Walker in middle school. She brings even more geniuses to the mix with this song, including co-producers Micah Jasper and K.Flay. They all created a track that perfectly captures the feeling of a machine booting back up. It surges from its typical ethereal, cold atmosphere into a beautiful, vibrant soundscape pushed forward by her vocals.

It reminds me of AURORA, with the same out-of-this-world nature, but it’s still distinctly Au/Ra. She makes it her own, always finding a way to lure her listeners in and click that loop button to have this song in the background while working or just staring at the ceiling and daydreaming the day away.
