Alex Sampson follows the release of his new single “How Lucky Am I?” with an announcement: his new EP, Growing Pains, will be out everywhere on June 5. The EP is officially available for pre-save here.
“How Lucky Am I?” captures the theme of reflecting back on a relationship, appreciating what he got out of it rather than feeling bitter towards it. Built around Sampson’s vulnerability, pop sound and raw vocals, the song reforms heartbreak into clarity.
When asked about the song and his upcoming project, Sampson shared:
“‘How Lucky Am I?’ is one of the most honest songs I’ve written for this project. It’s about realizing that even when something doesn’t last forever, you can still feel grateful that it happened at all. There’s sadness in it, but also a lot of love. I hope people hear it and think about the person or moment they were lucky to have, even if it’s not part of their life in the same way anymore.”
