This concert season, Anthony Kiedis (frontman of the Red Hot Chili Peppers) and longtime friend Shane Powers are ensuring nothing slows you down from getting in the pit. The pair recently announced the creation of their coffee brand – JOLENE, alongside their partnership with Live Nation, as an investor and distribution partner, to make sure you always have the energy for an encore.
Kiedis shared that the idea was conceived through a yelled exchange on the sidewalk. “Shane shouted at me […] Let’s do something! I shouted back ‘how ’bout coffee’? He said ‘done,’” according to Billboard. Despite its lax genesis, JOLENE has been carefully considered and created through each step of the process. This includes ensuring that the beans are ethically sourced from an all-woman co-op in Peru, where the women receive direct compensation. Not only this, but consumers can drink it with peace of mind as it’s organic, vegan, dairy-free, non-GMO, and lacks any artificial sweeteners.

JOLENE is currently being offered at 40 Live Nation venues as well as sold online and comes in two flavors: Black (a smooth, no-nonsense cold brew) and White (an easygoing, energizing, oat milk latte). Not only will fans have the option to enjoy one of these drinks individually at their next show, but they’ll also have the opportunity to try them in any of the four new, carefully crafted cocktails.
Russell Wallach, Global President, Live Nation Media and Sponsorship, gave his perspective on the new joint venture, sharing that “Fans want options that fit the pace and energy of live music. Cold brew has come up again and again, and JOLENE delivers—it’s high quality, easy to enjoy, and adds something new to the fan experience. It’s one more way we’re evolving to meet what fans are asking for.”
Kiedis and Powers have spent the better part of the last decade carefully making decisions about JOLENE, and the final decision comes down to you: will a can of JOLENE be in your hand this summer?
