mgk is paying tribute to his late friend, Luke “The Dingo” Trembath, with the release of a deeply personal new song, “your name forever.” mgk wears his heart on his sleeve, celebrating the life of someone who had a heart of gold. Channeling his grief into a song, the singer reflects on the time spent with his dear friend who was taken too soon.
mgk has seamlessly fused his rap roots with rock sounds to blend the hard-hitting lyrics. The song features background vocals from M. Shadows of Avenged Sevenfold, Oli Sykes of Bring Me The Horizon, Mod Sun, and lead guitar from Synyster Gates of Avenged Sevenfold, all of whom were friends of The Dingo.
“your name forever” is accompanied by a music video directed by Sam Cahill and includes memories shared between The Dingo and the EST family, as well as moments from a memorial in his honor earlier this month, including a performance atop of a rooftop overlooking Hollywood Hills. mgk describes him as,
“A true rockstar without ever needing to make a song, the most loyal, loud, charismatic, funny, and annoying human I’ve ever had the honor of knowing.”
Luke “The Dingo” Trembath was an Australian snowboarder and media personality, known for his warm and welcoming spirit. At the age of 14, his family relocated to the US so he could train with the US team, ultimately becoming a professional snowboarder at the age of 17. He remained dedicated to the sport, creating Grenade Gloves, a snowboard accessory brand, with fellow snowboarder Danny Kass. He also was a co-host of the UNLEASHED podcast alongside Kass and Brittany Palmer.
Over the years, The Dingo and mgk formed a friendship built on boundary-pushing lifestyles, supporting one another in every endeavor, including when mgk sold out the Cleveland Browns Stadium on his Mainstream Sellout Tour. It was the kind of bond that turns friendship into family.
“Life will always be less without you, but legends never die. We’ll all miss you brother.”
