Walter the Producer releases new single, “Tell Me Again”

Date:

Massachusetts’ very own Walter the Producer has combined his talent as a producer and love for music from the 80s and 90s to release “Tell Me Again,” a charismatic reflection over a love lost. Listeners of Cage The Elephant and Rainbow Kitten Surprise will enjoy the wide guitars and lively melody of “Tell Me Again.”

Having co-produced with Ryan Linvill, Walter the Producer uses some “cool old instruments” to create the nostalgic sound that infects the track. Starting the song with the sound of the guitar getting plugged into its amp almost immediately sets the tone. The panned sliding guitar and compressed kick and snare only reinforce this indie rock sound that Walter the Producer has perfected in previous releases. Yet, this song feels more full than previous single “Little Lies.” The backing vocals and doubles that build up along with this song are most likely the culprit for this fuller sound.

On the lyrics, the artist explains that “the song is kind of about the weird rationalization you go through after a relationship is over.” As the song moves, the recurring “tell me again” is a plead for a resolution of the fallout of a relationship. By addressing different people in the song, the desperation becomes clearer while letting the lyrics move the narrative along.

With its fun lyrics and tight instrumentation, “Tell Me Again” is another well produced song by the 22-year-old from the south shores of Massachusetts. It’ll be exciting to see what projects Walter the Producer has in store following this single.
