VC Pines isolates himself on new song “Break”

Date:

VC Pines, the artistic project of Jack Mercer, is known for his edgy sound. His artistry is inspired by his diagnosis of temporal lobe epilepsy, allowing him to deeply connect with his audience and transform his struggles into art. His debut LP MRI was released in 2023, and he’s finally back with a new single. His new song “Break” focuses on loneliness.

“Break” is about pushing away people you love. Through punchy drums and echoey vocals, VC Pines tries to hide who he is from the people around him, causing him to isolate himself. Lyrics such as, “See your scars as you move closer / I need you to tell me it’s over / You need me to bring you closure / From the start was always over,” show his tendencies to keep to himself instead of opening up to others for help.

You can listen to “Break” below.
