Florida alt-rock band The Haunt has just released their newest EP, Do Not Resuscitate, a heavier, fully rock leaning album that exudes intensity and vulnerability.

With the sibling duo of Anastacia Grace and Max Haunt at the helm, The Haunt takes on a more mature approach to their music, exploring themes of love and heartbreak. From the gut-wrenching opener “FML” to the solemn “On My Grave”, Do Not Resuscitate tells a compelling story about coming to terms with the unavoidable demise.

Anastacia’s haunting vocals bring these emotions to life, with a level of darkness and depth that comes through in every song. “Morally Incompetent” is one of the standout tracks, as it brings together the duo’s strengths with a tightly crafted rhythm section. With its Royal Blood-esque vibe, it is sexy, heavy and full of rage.

The music itself serves as a connecting thread, as the duo incorporates elements of rock and pop, with glimpses of electronica that create a sophisticated sound that is both fresh and edgy. “We took more of a rock-forward approach on this EP,” Max notes. “We’ve fully stepped into this space. We’re bringing in our influences of industrial and pop, but we really aimed to write rock songs first and make them even more special. The songwriting has matured. We’re coming into exactly the world and style of music we wanted to make.”

Do Not Resuscitate certainly feels like an elevated step forward for The Haunt, quickly becoming a no-skip, headbanging gem.
