Chad Sabo Sings The Love-Lost Truth in “sunday”

Date:

Funky and chunky, not a wee-bit clunky. “sunday” by Chad Sabo is an ultimate vibe.

A two-chord, jazz-influenced progression kicks this track off. We get a couple of bars of setting and scene making before we’re hit with an earworm chorus, laden with vocal harmonies. “I’m not good, I’m not good, I’m not good enough for love”.

Though that chorus may indicate this song is a self-deprecation banger, it’s really not. It’s much more of an self-acknowledgement banger. It’s not a judgment of character that the protagonist is not good enough for love, it’s more of an admittance that the protagonist isn’t quite ready right now.

This is a bite-sized sweetie, clocking in at 1:50. That said, the elements that compose the song are tasty enough to make you want to hit that loop button and let ‘er ride for a 2-3 time repetition. It’s a breezy song. Not a hard edge on this track, and that lack of edge serves it dutifully. It keeps you coming back again and again to dip your toes in this wading and warm pool of funky self-awareness.
