Alicia Creti releases music video for “Crazy” in anticipation of upcoming EP

Date:

Often the concepts of female hysteria and power do not work in tandem, but rising pop-soul star Alicia Creti interconnects the two in her latest single “Crazy.” The artist, hailing from the suburbs of Montreal, has released three tracks this year in addition to her latest in anticipation of her upcoming EP, Self/Less.

The track–her fourth released under Atlantic Records–depicts a story in which the protagonist calls her romantic partner out on his behavior, to which he responds by calling her crazy. Rather than deny that accusation, Creti lets it fuel her–and creates a banger while she’s at it.

“The song is about taking your power back,” Creti said. “Remember that the craziest (and best) thing you can do is leave.”

In the music video, Creti leans into the idea that her character is flawed or, potentially, crazy. The passion on her face exquisitely accompanies her gritty and highly controlled vocals as she spouts “I’ma show you crazy.”

The subject matter of her previously released music tends to cover topics that evade any audience age-demographic, leading to a unique and powerful sound that isn’t too niche to be commercially marketable. With that, she cites artists like Rihanna, Brandy, Beyonce, and Stevie Wonder as influences.

Creti’s music carries generations of refinement in her voice and stylistic choices, with a string-arranged introduction and staccato guitar embellishments sprinkled throughout, you almost catch an air of Destiny’s Child in her music.

As the iconic trio of the 90s and early 2000s proved time and time again, there can never be too many powerful women in music, and Alicia Creti is absolutely one to keep your eye on.
