Corey Taylor releases his third fresh track, “TALK SICK” from upcoming album ‘CMF2’

Date:

Today marks the release of the third track from Corey Taylor, the GRAMMY Award-winning, multi-platinum singer-songwriter, actor, and New York Times best-selling author known for his involvement with Slipknot and Stone Sour. The song, titled “Talk Sick,” is now available and comes as a preview from his forthcoming solo studio album, CMF2.

Reflecting on the song, Taylor mentions, “The sharp guitar riff you hear at the start was strummed through a speaker the size of a coffee cup. It carried a violent edge, as if swarms of bees were adding their touch to the Sex Pistols. The lyrics delve into a sense of cleansing, an attempt to free oneself from lingering demons stemming from past relationships, be they romantic or otherwise. It’s about confronting the part of you that emerges around certain people, a facet that you’d rather expel. It’s a process of releasing that toxicity.”

CMF2, Taylor’s inaugural release with BMG and on his personal label imprint, Decibel Cooper Recordings, was meticulously produced by Jay Ruston (known for his work with Anthrax, Steel Panther, Amon Amarth), who also helmed Stone Sour’s 2017 Hydrograd and Taylor’s prior album CMFT.

Taylor speaks of their partnership, “Our collaboration is fueled by great ideas, boundless energy, and a willingness to explore any avenue. We’re unafraid to assess ideas as good or not, with a strong foundation of trust. It’s an exhilarating dynamic.”

Within CMF2, Taylor exhibits his prowess as he handles vocals, lead and rhythm guitar, piano, and mandolin. The 13-track masterpiece encapsulates the vibrancy, innovation, and candor that have come to define Taylor’s trajectory, which has encompassed over 12 million albums sold with Slipknot and several million more as part of the chart-topping Stone Sour.

Following his 2020 solo debut, CMFT, which featured the chart-topping Billboard Active Rock single “Black Eyes Blue” and the viral hit “CMFT Must Be Stopped” (featuring Tech N9ne and Kid Bookie), CMF2 continues the legacy. The previous album achieved a #6 position on Billboard’s US Top Rock Albums chart.
