Cassie Marin finds acceptance on “Every Time I See the Ocean”

For those of you who are new fans of electro-pop artist Cassie Marin, you are finding her at an exciting time.  Last year, Cassie made waves with singles “Busy Body” and “Tanto,” which revealed a stronger, more intimate side of her songwriting and vision as an artist.   So far in these first weeks of 2022, Cassie has been named an Emerging Artist on TikTok, and is gearing up for the release of her upcoming album.  As she preps for this release, and for an incredible year, Cassie is giving fans more of an idea on what to expect with the album’s latest single “Every Time I See the Ocean.”

Described as “an ode to Cassie’s upbringing near the beach,” “Every Time I See the Ocean” conveys the essence of comfort and acceptance.  Mixing potent piano chords with a driving electro-pop beat, Cassie recreates this watery oasis from her past and gets lost in its light.  Her R&B vocals complement the music well, bringing a sense of ease to the track.  You can check it out below.

When elaborating on “Every Time I See the Ocean,” Cassie revealed,

I didn’t have anyone to play with as a child, but somehow the ocean had a presence so strong I forgot about my feelings of loneliness when I would swim in it.  I remember daydreaming underwater and using my imagination in ways that felt so close to magic.  I felt I metamorphosed in there.  To this day, I really do change drastically when I visit the ocean; it’s like taking a vitamin that induces me to refresh and be deeply honest with myself.  This song is that to me, a dip into an underwater daydream.

You can listen to “Every Time I See the Ocean” on platforms like Spotify, SoundCloud, and Apple Music.
