Jake Wesley Rogers is starting to become a household name, if you don’t know him already you should. Jake grew up in Kansas City, MO knowing he wanted to pursue music. He is made for the music. He is a true superstar who makes authentic music with queer storytelling and angelic vocals that will leave you speechless. In fact so many people were left speechless by Jake including Elton John who had Jake as a guest on his Apple Music radio show Rocket Hour‘s 300th episode. Jake is truly finding himself in his music with every release. This new release of ‘Wedding And Funerals” is brilliant and his talent really shines through on this one.
About this stirring ballad, he commented, “When I sat down with Justin Tranter and Eren Cannata to write ‘Weddings & Funerals,’ my grandpa had just died, and all of my friends were getting engaged. Everything felt like it was monumentally wonderful or terrible. I wrote this song as a reminder to appreciate the magical mundane parts in my life—as I sing, ‘like the sun in the sky / like your body on mine’.”
It’s a heartfelt song that really showcases the meaning of it to Jake. Even the music video to it is special.
Regarding the visual, he muses, “I based the music video for ‘Weddings & Funerals’ in the 1960s, when my grandparents got married. What would it have looked like If I saw the love of my life in a park and then daydreamed he was JFK, and we got married and then assassinated? The answer is this music video, and I hope it serves as a reminder of the importance to tell someone that you love them before it’s too late.”
Jake is truly making a name for himself in the music industry, and there’s no stopping him anytime soon. Not only did he just come out with this outstanding new song but he is also gearing up to release his debut EP Pluto out October 1st. And it doesn’t stop there as he is set to hit the road and open up for Ben Platt on his Reverie tour in 2022. There are a lot of exciting things in store for Jake and we can’t wait to see him shine!
