LIVE PHOTOS + REVIEW: Moon Taxi // Raleigh, NC

Date:

Moon Taxi lit up the Coastal Credit Union Midtown Park on Saturday night in Raleigh, NC for their full moon party. This wasn’t your typical show, as they brought with them three opening bands, making what felt like a mini-festival out of the day. Nashville-based Moon Taxi has played in Raleigh many times over the years and this most recent show was one for the books. They are a group that only gets better every time you see them and their live show is electrifying.

Fans gathered in masses on the lawn for the show and by the time Moon Taxi took the stage, the park was near full capacity. As the full moon shined bright directly above the stage, Moon Taxi played a mix of career-spanning tunes, including an encore of fan favorites “Morocco” and “Two High,” which featured four wacky waving inflatable arm-failing tube men in front of the stage. Other show highlights included a drum solo by Tyler Ritter to Billie Eilish’s hit song “Bad Guy” which inspired a dance party in the audience. In addition, Josie Dunne joined the band onstage for a nostalgic cover of “What’s Up?” by 4 Non Blondes which received a thunderous applause.

Moon Taxi knows how to connect to their fans in such an honest way, creating a feel good time out of their live shows. The entire crowd was one big dance party from start to finish and everywhere I looked, people were screaming out the lyrics to every song. As the show rolled on, the jams got more explosive and the energy level continued to rise. The guys had the crowd buzzing all night and truly radiated positivity with their smiles and spirit onstage.

Moon Taxi has stayed busy the past 13 years since their conception, putting out 5 studio albums, playing countless festivals coast-to-coast, and touring regularly bringing their energizing live show to cities all over the US and beyond. Earlier this year the group performed at the 2019 NFL Draft and since then have gone on to release three new singles, “Now’s the time,” “The World,” and “Restless.” With just a couple new songs having been released recently, we can only hope that there is more to come from these guys soon!
