Some dreams take years to reach, and for Madison Beer, headlining Madison Square Garden was one of them. Beer brought The Locket Tour to a close with a sold out show in her hometown at the worlds most famous arena. This turned the final night of her tour into a celebration of how far she has come and where she is headed to next.
Before Madison stepped onto the stage fans got to see Lulu Simon and Thuy perform their opening sets. Both artists were absolutely loved by the sold out Madison Square Garden crowd, and their positive and bubbly energy on stage was very contagious to the audience that was dancing in front of them.
Madison opened the show with her song “yes baby” before she went into the next song, “15 minutes,” which had the whole crowd jumping. She then went into her next song “Boyshit” where she did the iconic chant of “honey I’m a woman, I cant understand you what, cause I don’t speak boy no I know New York don’t speak boyshit!” Madison then went on to actually introduce the show, before singing “Home to Another One” and “bad enough.”
“MSG how you feeling tonight!? Oh my god I have said that in my dreams before but this is real, how is this real? I love you all so much thank you for making my lifelong dream come true. Thank you, thank you, thank you, this is unbelievable. I am so beyond honored to be playing here tonight for the closing night of The Locket Tour and I hope you guys have so much fun. I love you all so so dearly, thank you so much and for the last time welcome to The Locket Tour.”
She came back to perform “Reckless” which seemed to be a crowd favorite, while “Locket Theme” served as a reminder of the album and tour era that brought her to this milestone moment.
Another standout aspect of the performance was how deeply connected Beer remained to the audience throughout the night. Whether performing newer tracks like “Somehow I Got Lucky” and “Healthy Habit” or fan favorites such as “Envy the Leaves,” “nothing at all” and “Dear Society,” she made Madison Square Garden feel surprisingly intimate despite its size. One of the loudest reactions of the evening came when she revealed “Dead” as the show’s surprise song, a choice she personally selected for the final stop of the tour. The unexpected addition felt like a special thank you to the fans who had supported her not only throughout the entire Locket era, but from years back when she was performing in 500 capacity venues.
Madison then went on to perform “Spinnin” which is another fan favorite and one of the moments where the crowd was the loudest. She then continued with “Selfish” which is a song that even the people who aren’t everyday listeners of her know. Madison delivered powerful vocals like she does every time she performs this song, leaving the crowd in complete awe of her talent. She then continued the show with “you’re still everything” from her new album.
The energy just kept building up as the concert drew nearer to its finale. “Baby” became one of those moments that defined the entire show as thousands of people sang along to every single word at Madison Square Garden. Momentum was sustained through “for the night,” “free,” and “complexity.” The connection with the audience intensified further in “lovergirl,” when Beer left the stage to come closer to the audience by walking down the barricade.
“Make You Mine” became one of the nights most fun moments. Everyone was jumping, fans in the pit were gathering together to create a circle pit. In that moment it felt like everyone knew each other as we all came together to enjoy one of the final songs of Madisons MSG debut.
As her encore piece, Beer performed “bittersweet,” which was well-suited to such an eventful night full of both celebrations and reminiscence. This song reflected the emotions of the evening in a wonderful way – the feelings of appreciation, the pride of having achieved something great, and the knowledge that all endings are just new beginnings.
Madison Square Garden is known for numerous iconic performances; however, this particular concert had a special personal meaning. The last night of The Locket Tour was not about any gimmicks or special guests; it was about a long-awaited dream coming true. It was the realization of years of hard work and persistence on Madison Beer’s side; and for all her fans, the chance to see how their favorite singer achieves a huge success.
