It was all about love the last time we heard from rock sister trio The Warning. Last month, they teamed up with Mexican artist Carín León for “Love to Be Loved,” a sizzling country-rock track that displayed the exciting artistry and creative talent of these two acts. It was lively, enticing, and full of heart, encouraging listeners to shout, “I just need to be loved by you!” in the explosive choruses. But February is over, so love is dead.
On “Kerosene,” The Warning deliver a scathing message to their enemies. After the gritty guitar riff that ushers us into the track, a dangerous yet compelling energy takes over, leading us into sleek and edgy melodies. All the while, The Warning are unapologetic and confrontational as they sing, “I’ll say it once, won’t say it again / Look in my eyes when you’re talking to me!” It all comes to a head in the bridge when they reveal, “You try to write the songs I sing / It makes me sick!” Simply put, if you mess with The Warning, they will destroy you.
In the video below, “Kerosene” takes on a life of its own. We watch as The Warning drive through a desert, fully in charge of where they are going. They are fierce, they are ready, and they will stop for no one. Once they get to their destination—a cluttered and somewhat cool junkyard—they light it up, literally and metaphorically.
