After months of teasing new music, blackbear has officially reentered the spotlight, announcing a brand new full-length mixtape set for release on June 26. With this news, a new era of blackbear has officially begun.
The announcement follows many recent releases, including “Enemy,” his collaboration with Sueco, and “britney in ’07,” the track that ended bear’s 3-year hiatus.
The release comes as a change of plans for the previously announced album, analogue dream, originally set for release on April 1 of this year. The album has now been pushed back, with the mixtape coming first. A new date for analogue dream has yet to be revealed, but there is still plenty to look forward to with the rollout of the mixtape.
Already sparking interest online, blackbear has teased multiple tracks, including “UP/all/night,” and a song fans are calling “girl’s a gun,” since the official title has not been confirmed. Confirmed by blackbear himself, “girl’s a gun” will serve as the project’s intro, generating even more hype among fans who have been waiting for the track’s release for months.
One of the most exciting details, especially for longtime fans, is the return of the “beartrap sound” adlib. An element of his early work that hasn’t been heard in years reappeared on “Enemy,” signaling a return to the classic blackbear sound that many fans have been hoping for. blackbear even posted a compilation of previous times he used the adlib, building even more excitement around the comeback.
Fans are able to pre-save the mixtape now at presavebear.com.
