Alt-rock band The Funeral Portrait has partnered with book publisher Z2 to create an original graphic novel based on the alt-rock band’s first full length album, Greetings From Suffocate City.

The story expands on the world created by the band’s frontman Lee Jennings and guitarist Caleb Freihaut, and is co-written by Leah Moore. The tale follows Irving Westhound, a man on a mission to save the youths of his town from the leader of the Coffin Crew Cult.
“It’s an incredible opportunity to merge our music with a whole new world of storytelling,” said Jennings. “This is a dream come true for us and our fans, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it!”
Fans of the band and the album will notice numerous references within the story and imagery of the graphic novel. “Fans will definitely have a lot of fun with all the references we stuffed in,” said Andres Labrada, the comics artist for the novel. “If you’re a fan of the band you’ll be a fan of this comic and vice versa!”
The 44-page Deluxe Edition comes signed with art prints and a four-piece Funeral Portrait card collector’s set. Deluxe editions are available exclusively at Z2’s website while a standard 9”x9” edition is available via Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other independent retailers.
