Coming from “The Come Down” is no easy feat for The Collection, the latest single from the indie-pop band led by David Wimbish. Based in North Carolina, The Collection consists of six members. Through three albums over the last decade and October 2023 single “Medicine.” The Collection is known for their riotous shows and sound. Their song “Beautiful Life” earned praise from NPR Tiny Desk Judges and opportunities to share the stage with Tall Heights, Sammy Rae & Friends and others.

Their latest single, “The Come Down,” delves into the complexities of supporting friends through their struggles, which can impact one’s emotional state — it can bring you to your knees. In the song, he describes failing to see the “hibernation on [the other person’s] face,” as he struggles to help them save face in this built-up anthemic track, singing, “I’m gonna be there / When you come back down.”

“Loving someone with depression is hard, but loving someone with manic-depression is a whole new level,” Wimbish said.

Wimbish added that he found himself struggling and in too deep, with “The Come Down” capturing “waves of depression and mania” but through a new sonic exploration in their fourth studio album.
