Bronx-born artist Ezra begins a new wave of “Ezracore” music, a unique style coined by fans on Tiktok for the artist’s combinations of emo, rock, rap, and hyper-pop elements in his songs. The most recent release, “intermission,” is nothing short of addictive. You’ll have it on constant repeat.
“intermission” is one of those songs listeners can find themselves screaming along to on car rides home while it’s raining, or when you just need to get all your feelings out at once. It’s a yearning confession of opportunities missed and dreaming about what-ifs, but it’s still hopeful for a chance to build upon what’s still salvageable in a relationship despite one person moving on with their life.
Taking inspiration from artists such as XXXTentacion and Ski Mask The Slump God, Ezra started out on his journey under the Soundcloud alias “Young E.Z.” The name has since changed to “Ezra” as the artist moved to Los Angeles.
In 2021, Ezra’s songwriting skills caught the eye of alt/scene icon Gabe Saporta, who signed him to his record label TAG Music. Shortly after signing, Ezra’s debut EP, Appreciate the Small Things, amassed over 10 million streams and grew a community of 100,000 monthly Spotify listeners. It has since grown to 68.8 thousand listeners, with his song “can’t let my guard down” gaining 5 million streams.
Ezra’s sudden rise with the help of TikTok followers has created a plethora of milestones, including a sold-out release show at Mars LA, and support slots for the likes Carlie Hanson, Matisyahu and Pacifica. Additionally, he has headlined two sold-out shows at LA’s Moroccan Lounge and a stunning intimate Tiny Room performance.
