Surf Trash suggest “Tappin Into Magic” with new single

The Australia-based band Surf Trash is composed of guitarist Patrick Russel, guitarist Lachlan Jackson, and brothers Andrew Scott, who is the lead vocalist/drummer, and bassist Nicholas Scott. They recently released their new single “Tappin Into Magic,” which is a play on the saying “comparison is the thief of joy.” The song embodies the indie rock essence as soon as it starts.

It opens with an electric guitar melody soon followed by the catchy beat of the drums. As soon as Scott’s voice comes in, the tempo picks up and the listener is invited to head bang along. The deeper tonal quality at certain parts of the song contrasts well with the higher range in his voice throughout the chorus. The buildup on the drums toward the end and the wind-down at the very end of the song also complement the overall tone of the lyrics.

Lyrically, the song seems to be inviting people to tap into their individuality as each person holds their own magic. The lyrics are fun and catchy, making it easy to sing along. The simplicity in the lyrics leaves the song’s emphasis on the musicality between the electric guitar, bass, and deep beats of the drum.
