Atlanta’s own infamous Grammy Award-winning R&B singer-songwriter Summer Walker gives fans a first look at the cover art for her third studio album, Finally Over It, set to release on Friday, Nov. 14th via LVRN/Interscope Records.
The album cover takes inspiration from a set of wedding photos from the 1994 ceremony between Anna Nicole Smith and 89-year-old billionaire oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall II, reimagined through the Walker’s own lens. In a press release, Walker states that the point of this image is to “turn a controversial cultural reference into a powerful statement on freedom, transformation, and self-worth.”
It’s also an extension of her viral moment at this year’s VMAs. At the awards ceremony, Walker made headlines for walking the red carpet in an outfit inspired by Pamela Anderson alongside an older, white male companion. It’s a playful nod to the Finally Over It visual world as a whole, and it symbolically closes her trilogy.
Teasers and a playful lie detector test video have captured the attention of fans, with a very cleverly and carefully crafted “wedding preparation” theme complete with a “guest list” of artists either featured on the album or who helped write the album. It is not yet confirmed which artists fall under which category — collaborator or feature — but soon, audiences will be pleasantly surprised at what is to be discovered. Pre-orders for the album are available across all streaming platforms now.
