Along with his sophomore EP, By The End Of The Night, rising alt-rock act Sonoma the Kid releases his new single, “Over!”
“Over!” is an up-tempo track blending consistent hip-hop rhythms with sleek rock guitars to create a dark yet energizing sound. Coupled with a satisfying repeated rhyme scheme, this track mimics a pace for a sense of urgency which may mirror the song’s meaning.
This new single tackles the open-endedness of a relationship, assuming it would reach its conclusion, but a partner repeatedly coming back for more. He sings, “oh my, loving again / Thought this was over,” as he rolls his eyes over his exasperated back-and-forth, as he follows up with, “one day you want me, the next, it was over.”
Inevitably, as the Chicago-based singer rejects the idea of continuing the cycle, he sings, “don’t want your closure / Oh, I was down bad in love / Found my composure / I’m over this.” He even goes as far as saying he has a new girlfriend and would not have flaunted her in his ex-girlfriend’s face, but the annoyance drives him to the point of drinking. He claims this riddance of this past relationship and the ability to decompress in his songwriting is ultimately freeing.
Sonoma the Kid lets loose in his newest single, “Over!” as he tries to forget the strain of a past relationship. The artist claims this single is his favorite track off of his new EP, By The End Of The Night.
