SNACKTIME give us double the treats with “Who’s Been Stopping You?” and “Fly Like an Eagle”

Date:

In the summer of 2020, SNACKTIME was bringing all the goods to Philadelphia’s Rittenhouse Square. There, they attracted huge crowds with their free shows, so after a while, they were ready to step up their game. SNACKTIME started to sell out headlining shows, went on national tours with artists like Portugal. The Man, and made their festival debut at places like Life Is Beautiful, Sound on Sound, and Sea. Hear. Now. Last year, they made waves with singles like “SUNSHINE” and “ENOUGH,” and found themselves playing more festivals like Newport Folk, Roots Picnic, Boston Calling, and XPoNential. They are about to go on tour with Electric Guest, where they will perform in notable venues like New York’s Irving Plaza and Atlanta’s The Masquerade. With that, their 2026 is off to a great start, but it’s made all the greater with the double release of singles “Who’s Been Stopping You?” and “Fly Like an Eagle.”

On “Who’s Been Stopping You?” SNACKTIME are the ultimate hype team. They bring the funk, they bring the flavor, and they bring words of empowerment. Against meandering riffs, steady hi-hat, and groovy horn lines, we hear, “You might be nice, but you’ve never been kind” and “You gotta get yourself up (to change your view) / Who’s been stopping you?” It’s cool and refreshing, and it reminds listeners that they are in control. It also reminds fans that the sky is the limit, which is reinforced with the release of “Fly Like an Eagle.” With this cover, SNACKTIME bring the Steve Miller Band classic into the present. They make it their own by pulling back on the synth and leaning into the soul of the song. It still contains its original free-spirited character, but it also has that SNACKTIME heart.

About the singles, SNACKTIME explain,

“When you’re an export of the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, there’s a guarantee that you’ll feel the full force of one of the hardest working and proudest cities in America. With that guarantee comes the expectation to represent with your full strength, work as hard as you can, and bring the realness that is so inherently Philly. ‘Who’s Been Stopping You?’—it’s a song that asks the simple question, ‘Have you done everything you can to get everything you’ve ever wanted?’ When everyone’s rooting against you, what can you do to make sure you rise above those people, stand and deliver?

“Of course, when you’re talking about Philadelphia, the next thought from most people is “GO BIRDS.” So, we took the Steve Miller Band classic ‘Fly Like an Eagle,’ covered it in garlicky broccoli rabe and provolone, and let it rip.”
