Slow Coast shares empowering new anthem “Where I’m Supposed to Be”

Date:

San Francisco band Slow Coast has released “Where I’m Supposed to Be” off their new album Home of the Restless. Reminiscent of works by The Black Keys and Cage the Elephant, the new indie rock track is an empowering anthem for dreamers.

From beginning to end, “Where I’m Supposed to Be” is filled with catchy hooks, peaking with a bridge that reinforces the rebellious spirit of the song: “What a waste of time / To do this dream of mine / For anyone but me / For anyone.” Lyrically, the record is about following your gut and chasing your dreams regardless of how crazy they sound to other people.

In an Instagram post, frontman Matt Lawton shared the meaning behind the new LP:

“This album has really helped me through the last 2 years and it means so much to me that it’s finally yours. Sometimes you write the song, but sometimes the song writes you. In the same way these songs let me run away, I hope they also bring you back home.”

Since debuting in 2022, the beach-rock group has amassed 3 million streams across all platforms with the help of their albums Upstream Dreams, Depths Like These, and their latest, Home of the Restless.
