Sleigh Bells are set to release their seventh studio album on April 4

Date:

Sleigh Bells is starting a new era with their seventh studio album, Bunky Becky Birthday Boy. Producer and guitarist Derek Miller, and singer Alexis Krauss, make up the duo that got their start in 2010 with their debut album, Treats.

The duo began this album rollout cycle with the release of the first two tracks on the album, “Bunky Pop” and “Wanna Start A Band?.” On this record, they experimented with blending autobiography and fiction in their storytelling.

“We wanted the track to sound like a dog having the best moment of her life without any of the burden of self consciousness,” Miller said. “‘Bunky Pop’ informed the entire record, and Bunky Becky kind of became a character woven into every song. We wanted to give her a friend, Roxette Ric, so we could play with a little bit of autobiography and fiction as well.”

Sleigh Bells drew inspiration from their own lives to create this album, specifically Krauss’ dog, who sadly passed away in 2023. The dogs name was Riz, or as loved ones would say, Bunky Becky.
