Rising heavy rock outfit Sleep Theory has unveiled the official music video for “Words Are Worthless,” a track from their debut full-length album Afterglow, released May 2025 via Epitaph Records. The video was directed by Orie McGinness (Bad Omens, Poppy) and places the band in a moody, performance-driven setting, leaning into a dark, goth-noir aesthetic that mirrors the song’s emotional weight.

Built around sweeping strings and soaring melodies, “Words Are Worthless” showcases Sleep Theory’s ability to balance vulnerability with power. The violin-laced ballad highlights the commanding vocals of frontman Cullen Moore.

In an Instagram story post from lead singer Moore, he shares a reference for the music video was Darling in the Franxx, an anime show he stated one of his favorites.

Released in May, Afterglow marks Sleep Theory’s first full-length for Epitaph and has already proven to be a massive breakthrough. Produced by David Cowell and mixed by Zakk Cervini (Bring Me The Horizon, Bad Omens, Architects), the album has amassed over 515 million streams worldwide. Revolver praised the record as an “exciting mix of metalcore, pop, and R&B,” a description that reflects the band’s genre-blurring approach and wide-reaching appeal.

With Afterglow continuing to gain traction and “Words Are Worthless” offering a powerful glimpse into the band’s emotional range, Sleep Theory’s breakout moment shows no signs of slowing down.

Tickets to see Sleep Theory across the world are still available.
